![]() ![]() We’ve had guys from all different experience. We’re allowing them every day to compete and demonstrate their value and production and that’s what we’re working on right now. Everybody is starting at ground zero with us. I know for us, it’s our jobs as coaches to evaluate after every practice and create situations where they can demonstrate the ability to play in those situations. I can’t speak for any other clubs this offseason and this training camp. I come from a school of thought of it doesn’t matter how you got there, it matters what you do when you get there. Do you buy that it’s going to be harder for some of these guys to make your team?Ī: I would say that every year that I have been a part of the National Football League we’ve had some kind of undrafted player make our 53 roster and be a contributing factor to our team. How many times in your career has a guy on special teams made the team because of the last one or two preseason games. Q: There was a theory going into this strange training camp that it would be very difficult for undrafted guys and guys at the bottom of the roster to make the team this year with no preseason games. Our guys really did that today to finish practice. Really it comes through playing down after down with the right intensity and the right technique. We’ve done a lot of work with our guys with post-practice conditioning and trying to work through the drills to finish everything to build our endurance. You have to build in the football conditioning through playing football. You value the opportunity in camp like we had today where you can work on sustained drives. We definitely got some good quality work. I thought they finished the practice with a lot of intensity. Q: Did you see what you wanted after that point?Ī: Yeah, I thought the guys came out and they worked hard. I just wanted to make sure the players were aware of what we were trying to do at the end of practice, so they knew the speed of the drill and the emphasis of the drill. Little bit more of a move the field competitive period and then working some 2-minute end of the half, end of the game situations. What was the idea behind that and the message with that? Was that pre-planned or based on what you had seen previously throughout the practice?Ī: We were just coming off of special teams and wanted to make sure we just established the emphasis of what the rest of practice was. You kind of huddled them up and got into them a little bit. I think it was before the two-minute drill there. When we have more information, we will make sure we get it out to you. ![]() Darius wasn’t with us today, he was the only one not really present at practice. As we check them with a day up and a day down and take a little bit off of them right there. There’s a couple guys that we are monitoring as we go through training camp. I’m going to check with the trainers when I get back and see where all those guys are at. Darius Slayton, Jabrill Peppers, Spencer Pulley, and I think maybe Shane Lemieux and Rysen John?Ī: We had a couple guys dealing with some cramps. Q: Can you update us on the statuses of some guys we either saw not practice or came off early. That’s definitely something we have to work on as a team and improve there. We have to get it where we come off a day off and we start sharp. What makes Thomas' issues more profound compared to the others is that neither Adams nor Peterson saw all their fumbles recovered by the opposing team, as Thomas has.A: The guys came out and they definitely ended with a good intensity at practice with competing at the end. ![]() Thomas, however, has one fumble per 10 touches of those 16 players, only Carolina's Joe Adams (one fumble per 2.8 touches) and Arizona's Patrick Peterson (one fumble per 7.9 touches) have lost the football more frequently this year. Only four receivers have more drops than Thomas, who is one of 16 players with three or more fumbles this year. Three of Thomas' drops have come in the past three games. In addition to the fumbles, Thomas has dropped four passes this season, according to Stats, Inc. Thomas has struggled with fumbles and dropped passes in recent weeks. He was seen in the locker room Tuesday carrying the football, which was adorned with the initials of receivers coach Tyke Tolbert's two daughters. Three fumbles in three games leads to some special corrective measures.īroncos Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas opened Thursday's practice carrying around a football covered with green beanies at both ends. 30 wasn't even forced he simply failed to correctly move the football from one hand to the other. (US Presswire) This fumble lost by Demaryius Thomas on Sept. ![]()
